PAINTED CTHULHU

I purchased the Reaper Miniatures Cthulhu model a while back. I got it because it is an excellent and big model and I thought it would be a challenge to paint. I have painted it now and it has lived up to expectations. It is a superb model and if you take the time to paint it well rewards the effort. When finished the model stands about 250-275mm high. Here is my painted Cthulhu.

Warrior Lord Birthday Boy!

Here is the birthday boy! I got this mini as a birthday present and he is now painted up. It is one of Eureka Minis fantasy line. I replaced the dinky little Eureka shield with a proper warriors shield. Its a nice figure and will do well as a Lord leading his host into battle.

WW2 AUSSIE COMMANDOS

Just painted up the first of my 28mm Eureka Minis WW2 Aussies. Mine all have Owen guns or Bren Guns as I am making them up as late war Commandos. The native carriers are from Company B.

28mm SYW Prussian Cuirassiers

Here are a couple of SYW Prussian Cuirassier units that needed some finishing touches.
The flag/vexillum, sabretaches, minor details and basing were completed last weekend and they have come up quite well.
Foundry figures.

The Gardes du Corps only had 3 squadrons but I gave them the standard 12 figures.

The Friedrich von Brandenburg Cuirassiers were a solid unit with combat service against the Russians and had a nice colour scheme. One figure lost his arm...so if anyone happens to have a spare...😁

I'm working on some infantry next, then perhaps some artillery.

Cheers,
Mick

MEDIEVAL SWISS ARMY

Here is my Swiss army. This has been a LONG time in the making. I first made the master figures and the drop cast moulds for the army back in 1983. I cast a lot of figures, painted some and put the rest in a bag where they remained for many years. In the last year or so I have returned to my Swiss and painted all the figures I cast. I have added some Perry heads for variation and used some Foundry minis for standard bearers and a mounted leader. I have also used figures from other manufacturers for the crossbows and handguns. I have four cannons to go with this army. Two of these are painted and two more are almost done. Now why paint the pikes red? In the Funken book on Medieval armies they have the Swiss pikes as red and I thought they looked good, so mine are red.

28mm Napoleonic Bavarian Cavalry

Hi All,
Long time between posts.
I finished a 2nd Dragoon unit recently and thought it would be good to photograph all four units at once. All Foundry figures.

1st and 2nd Dragoons and 1st and 2nd Chevaulegers.

Hope you like the photos.

Cheers,
Mick

WW2 AUSTRALIAN COMMANDOS 2

I have finished painting the Australian Commandos. Here they are. Nice figures but I really don't know how they can ever be used in wargame if they play their commando role. Their basic tactic, as one of them put it, was 'Punch and Piss off' which does not make a very interesting game. And yes Owen guns often came out of the factory painted in camouflage colors. I did a minor bit of conversion on the figure with the rifle turning it into an EY grenade firing rifle as by 1945 this was the only type of rifle they tended to use apart from sniper rifles.

BIG INDIAN GUNS

I have had the Elephant for 20+ years - he is finally painted. The big guns are more recent. These guns will see service with my Sikh army for the present and in the future serve with the Mahratta and Mughal armies.
Elephant is Foundry and the guns and crews are Indus Miniatures.

IRON CLAD

Here is an American Civil War ironclad which I made more than 20 years ago. Its made from scrap wood and a plastic tube for the funnel. You can see two 28mm minis with it to give you an idea of the size. There are three images here, one a fancy photoshopped image with 'water' the other a straight image and the third an image of a visit by the ladies to the ship. I am proud of this old fellah, it is homemade with no commercial products involved, much like how many of the originals were put together.
